My Reflection-First Day of Internship.

 Feeling of uncertainty

First day of internship, I can feel my palms sweating; imagination has brought me to the worst thinking something bad will happen. Woke up extremely early, put on my best dress and make up and prayed that this 3 months will be a learning journey and this will be fun. Reached the office extra early and  I already saw two familiar faces from Taylor's’. Being the latest one, I thought they were waiting for me! Handshakes, smiling faces and we introduced ourselves to each other. The two other interns are Gracy and Chea Ye, both doing International Business and Marketing, one semester later from me, which makes me the senior of the group. With much curiosity, I got to know that Gracy is assigned to the A&P (Advertising and Promotion) department and Chea Ye is assigned to the Finance department. I happily answered LEASING DEPARTMENT! 

 Later on,Ms. Helen, the human resource executive welcomed us and brought us to our respective department.The first impression when i entered in the office is the momentum employees have and its an open office concept. Between seconds entering the office, i felt that the momentum of completing a task must be fast and accurate. From my view, i saw a wide view of cubicles everywhere.

Reaching to the leasing department, the HR executive introduced me to my superior, Ms Ee Lyn. She welcomed me with a handshake and told me to make this as your own home. Without wasting time, she told me what I am going to experience these 3 months of internship and told me I will have several colleagues assisting me in various tasks. Then, Sujaa came to place and started teaching me the daily operation of Leasing (Tenancy Admin) does. 

She brought me into the filling room which consists of tons of files named and I was assigned to arrange the unfiled files to the respective places. For example: A file named Mc Donald’s has its lot number written and I was to find the cupboard with the correct lot number.  This took me quite a while and soon, it was already lunch time!

After lunch, Thila taught me about E-filling system whereby Sunway is incorporating a web-search engine for all the retail lots documents. E-filling is a system where all the files from the respective lots need to be scanned, rename and submit it to the online system. She warned me that everything has to start from scratch and it is a very tedious and time consuming job. With this warning, i forsee that i must be very alert and careful in what i am doing with minimal mistakes.

I then returned back to my place and  started setting a clear and accepting mind to accept all the challenges ahead. Besides, i believe that by keeping my mind open and positive at all times, i would be able to absorb and learned as much during this 3 months. Besides working, i will have the opportunity to be able to interact with all my colleagues from different path of life. Establishing a good relationship with my colleagues will be able to create trust and respect during my period of internship. This 3 months will be a whole new learning process and an exposure on how working life is.
