Debate means war!

Team A: There is not much managers can do to reduce the negative effects of problems and biases in perception and attribution in organizations.
Team B: Managers can take active steps to reduce the negative effects of problems and biases in perception and attribution in organizations.

Team A,glory! Our group members consists of Desmond,Louis and Pam. Our group all agreed to this statement as there is not much a manager can do to help reduce the problems in perception and attribution in the organizations. We, sat down together and have list down the points and research to help us beat down the opponent.
 Briefing from Ms.Choo before starting!

Louis giving his points!
 Discussion time!
Debating had go on for approximately 25 minutes. At last, it came to and end and we have been defeated by only 2 marks! Although we have lost the battle, we had fun! i have learned a  lot from this debate as any points that are listed out can be twisted from another angle and it become logic again! Overall, i love the way we brainstorm in such a short time to rebate the opponent's point. i have learned that there are many rules we need to obey during debating. For example: no discussion when opponent is talking and many more.

Finance test is over!

 Financial Calculator.

5 subjects every semester. This semester, i am particularly scared of finance! Finance always give me shivers in my spine as i do not like figures, calculations and i just cannot connect with finance!
As week 4 is coming by, i am alarmed that finance test is coming in days! My palms turns sweaty cold when i think about it.

Fortunately,my finance lecturer, Mr.George posted up all the tutorial answers and that helped me alot. Each time i face difficulties, i will have a look at the solutions and try to understand. And, it works!
Doing the questions again and again make me fully understand and being very comfortable.
In the midst of doing revision!

Lesson learned:
  1. Start revision early.
  2. Must do tutorial work that is assigned by lecturer
  3. Must not take for granted of questions you don't understand
  4. Never Give up!!

Results are out after a few days! i would say my results can be improved and i will work harder next time. Somehow, the test make me love finance more now!!

    SBS Transit Singapore is Hiring!

i worked for SBS transit Singapore as a receptionist during my holidays. SBS transit Singapore is one of the leading bus operator in the world and wanting to hire bus drivers. The recruitment drive is held in Swiss Garden Kuala Lunpur.

These are some pictures from the Subang Jaya recruitment event.
The advertisement that was in the newspaper.

    Posters of SBS Transit

Screen to lead candidates to the hall.

Helping to put up the posters!

Helping candidates in filling up forms.

    Job Scope of the day:
    • Helping candidates to fill up forms
    • Do a colour blind test on them
    • Sending in candidates to the interview rooom
    • Attend to all questions that are asked by the candidates

The recruitment drive is from 10.00am-6.00pm.Many candidates came from all over Malaysia just to have this opportunity to work in Singapore. I can see hope in their faces when going into interview as the job offer and the job security SBS Transit offered them. I personally think that being a bus driver is no easy job, as they need to wake up as early as 5am and work till 12.00pm. Working in shift mode ain't easy as they need to be alert always and be careful on the road.

i feel very touched when one  of the candidate that aged around 40  told me that ''Being a bus driver is not a happy job, but i enjoyed it a lot''. He says that with this job, i could spend my family with good food and afford my son into university. He is happy with his job currently and hoping to be a team of SBS Transit Singapore. This really made an impact on me as he is so optimistic with his job and finally! He has gotten his employment letter after thee interview!

Amazing Race In KL Stryker- Job Experience

During my holidays,i was offered to work in an event with Stryker . Let me introduce Stryker, it is one of the leading manufactures of medical equipment in United States. This company consists of more than 2000 employees and employee all around the world.

The amazing race event was held around KL. Stryker members have to achieved a certain points and get checked in at several places that are fixed in KL. They can take this opportunity to explore KL with either by foot and the LRT. The event took 6 hours that day.

I  and my friends arrived at Concorde Hotel,Kuala Lumpur at 6.30 for briefing. Many people had arrived and we are all required to wear black for the day. Briefing details is made by Mr.Abu about job scope, methods of handling things and some general information.

My friends and i during briefing

There were about 100 people and 50 of them are selected to do filing, calculating and others. The rest are the ones who are participating in the check-point. Each works in a pair.

    Job scope for the day:

    • Chop the route card when participants arrive
    • Check whether they are in the right route
    • Take photos for them (competition requirements)

    Requirements of the competition
    •  Checked  into 10 checkpoints. Checkpoints must be according to the sequence. There are 20 checkpoints given.
    • Have to take picture at the checkpoint with one of the check-pointers with given Polaroid camera.

Our check point destination: 陈氏书院 (grande house)

My partner,Catherine and i was assign at checkpoint 6.  100 plus is the best drink to quench our thirst in the hot blazing sun.
     Checkpoint 6!

    Route of the competition

Competition started sharp at 9.30am. Teams are all very competitive as we can see them from far coming and already screaming for joy. '' Chop Chop Chop'' for all the participants that arrived. After choping the stamps, picture taken, they then rush to another destination. Speed is as fast as wind. This shows how participative and competitive they are.
    Customized chop for stryker-checkpoint 6.
Time strike one and competition ended. Catherine and I took the LRT and head to KLCC convention centre to meet up with the others.Something surprise me is stryker also do take the competition seriously, they also care about giving to the society. These bicycles are fixed by the stryker's members and is going to be given out to 150 children.

Children from_____ lining up and we brought them to the hall, to surprise them with the bicycles. Their smiles on their faces are so wide when the emcee announced that they are going to have their very own bicycle.

    Bicycles giving ceremony.

Stryker members going back after the ceremony ends.

I had fun participating in this event. Although i need to work under the hot sun, but witnessing the ''spirit'' how they participate in the competition, i feel energized and inspired by them. Smiles from the children are still ink printed in my mind when they know they can have their very own bicycle. neither the less, i had fun making new friends and experiencing something new in my life.
